Driving Lesson 1 (Practical)
Finally got to my very first practical lesson after years of delay. I think i passed my BTT at least 5 years ago, but i sort of chickened out because i just dont think i can handle the responsibility of driving a car. I mean, if i run someone over (by accident, of course), i may have to go to jail or get traumatised. I mean, other than potentially killing said person. anyway,
i went for the first lesson of the day at 7.30am, and had to wake up ridiculously early for it.
thankfully i managed to get there in time, as i managed to get a ride from dad.
i managed to find my allocated car within like 5 minutes, and my instructor was a pretty friendly guy, which was a huge relief because i was really pretty scared of getting a grumpy one. in fact, i had been trying to find a lady instructor for ages because i have anxiety and i think it is going to be disastrous for me to be panicking behind the wheel because of the imaginary grumpy instructor scolding me
so i got an introduction to the components of the car (brake, accelerator, signals, windshield wiper) and how it starts. the instructor was pretty funny, he shared how this student opened up the engine to check before each lesson and told me not to do that 😆 he also shared about another student who took over 70 lessons without going for the TPPT as she wasn't confident she would pass. and i thought i was an overthinker.
anyway, after introductions, he told me to get into the driver's seat and i was pretty shocked because i thought he would maybe drive around and demo a little first 😂 and i guess he saw i was shocked because he was like yeah, no more passenger princess. 😤
i did pretty alright at starting the car and stuff, and we did a few rounds around the circuit. it was quite scary actually and the instructor was quite chatty, although it was quite entertaining i realised i am not a good multitasker and couldn't concentrate on the circuit 😂 anyway, in his words i am "not too slow" so i should be able to go out into the streets in my next lesson. i dont think i am ready to, but not sure if i have a choice in this matter.
